ROYAL TRAVELS NEWS. Goa, a popular tourist destination in west India, was once ruled by the Portuguese. Plans are underway to start helicopter services to cater to the large number of tourists that are coming to the beaches, as well as the cultural and natural attractions. Initially, three helipads will be made ready to receive the choppers. There will be one near the Old Goa Basilica, a second one near Fort Aquada, and a third near the Lalit Hotel. Director of Tourism Ameya Abhyankar said in Delhi on March 5 that talks were on with Pawan Hans, which has a fleet of helicopters and is government-owned, and the Civil Aviation Ministry has also been approached for the necessary permissions. Goa has been trying to spread the arrivals to destinations to places other than just the beaches. Also, more markets are being explored in Latin America and other new places. |
